Marriage Preperation

Preperation stages:

  • Register at your Parish (you are considered a parishioner of the parish that you reside in). 
  • Contact a priest at least six months before you want to get married.
  • Set up an initial meeting with Fr. Michael to “pencil in” a tentative date and fill out initial information.  330.467.7959 or mdenk@barnabasohio.org
  • Take the Prepare/Enrich online inventory at home. 
  • Meet with Fr. Michael once a month to review the results from the Prepare/Enrich and plan the Liturgy.
  • Contact Bob Burian our music director to plan the music for the liturgy. 
  • All engaged couples are to make an Engaged Encounter http://www.clevelandencounter.com/ or a Pre Cana http://www.clevelandcatholiccharities.org/mfm/marrprep.htm
  • Couples will be given an article or a reading assignment to read for the next session. 
  • Couples who are not both Catholic must purchase 2 books: ­This is Our Faith and The Catechism of the Catholic Church.  Available at Grismer’s Religious Gifts & Church Supply http://www.grismers.com/
  • Couples who have been previously married must make a Cana II http://www.clevelandcatholiccharities.org/mfm/marrprep.htm – CANA II
  • Any person in need of an annulment must have the case finalized before wedding preparation begins.
